Delete your account

Last updated: July 31, 2026

You can delete your Onplana account and have your personal data erased at any time. There are two ways to do it, and you don't need to contact us to use the first one. This applies to every Onplana app, including Onplana Tasks on iOS and Android, because they all sign in to the same account.

1. Delete it yourself

  1. Sign in at app.onplana.com.
  2. Go to Settings, then the Security tab.
  3. Choose Delete account.
  4. Re-enter your password to confirm. We ask again so that a logged-in device left unattended can't be used to delete your account.

You can optionally tell us why you're leaving. That's free text, it's stored with the deletion record, and it changes nothing about the deletion itself.

2. Or ask us to do it

Email privacy@onplana.com from the address on your account and ask us to delete it. This is the route to use if you can't sign in, or if one of the situations in section 5 applies to you.

3. What happens, and when

Deletion is scheduled rather than immediate. For 7 days after you request it:

  • Your account keeps working normally, with full access. Nothing is hidden or restricted.
  • A banner shows the date your data is scheduled to be erased.
  • You can cancel at any point from the same Settings screen, which restores the account with nothing lost.

After the 7 days elapse, erasure runs automatically. It is not reversible, and we cannot restore an account once it has run.

4. What is erased, and what stays

Your personal data is erased. Work that belongs to an organization you were part of stays with that organization, because other people depend on it and it isn't solely yours to remove.

Erased or revoked:

  • Your profile and the personal details on your account, including your email address.
  • Every session, API token, and password-reset token, so all access ends immediately.
  • Your memberships of every organization, team, and project.
  • Any pending invitations addressed to your email.

Kept, without you attached to it:

  • Projects you owned are handed to the organization's owner, so the organization doesn't lose them.
  • Tasks assigned to you stay in their projects and become unassigned.
  • Records we're required to keep, such as audit and billing history, which are retained under the terms described in our Privacy Policy.

5. When you can't delete the account yourself

Three situations block self-service deletion, because deleting in each case would break something for other people. In each one the app tells you which applies and what to do.

  • You're the only owner of an active organization. Removing you would leave that organization with nobody able to administer it. Make someone else an owner, or delete the organization, then delete your account.
  • An organization you own has an active paid subscription. Cancel the subscription on the Billing tab first, so the organization isn't left in a broken billing state.
  • Your account is provisioned by your employer's identity provider (single sign-on with SCIM). Your IT administrator has to deprovision you there. If we deleted the account here, the next sync would recreate it. Onplana follows the change automatically once they do.

6. When erasure takes longer than 7 days

If you belong to an organization on a regulated retention policy, for example one configured for HIPAA or FINRA, that organization is legally required to retain certain records for a fixed period. Where that period is longer than the 7-day grace window, erasure of the affected data is deferred until it expires, as permitted by GDPR Article 17(3)(b). Your access still ends on schedule, and the deletion still runs; only the erasure date moves.

Most accounts are not affected by this. If yours is, the scheduled date shown when you request deletion is the real one.
