Open, read, check, share
Four steps, and the first three need no account at all.
1. Open the file
Double-click an .mpp, .mpx, .xer or Project XML file, or drop it on the window. Project XML is read on your machine; a binary file is converted on Onplana’s servers and the uploaded copy is deleted within 24 hours. The app tells you which before anything leaves your computer.
2. Read the schedule
The grid beside a Gantt chart: task names, durations, start and finish, the hierarchy, the links between tasks. Critical-path tasks are red, and every other bar is coloured by how much float it carries, so the shape of the plan reads at a glance.
3. Check its health
One click runs the Schedule Health Check: a score, the findings that matter most, and the full report by email. For a Project XML file the check is opt-in, because it is the one step that uploads a copy.
4. Share it
Publish a copy to a free Onplana workspace and send your team a link. They open it in a browser with the Gantt, comments and assignments. Nothing changes in your file, and there is no account to create until this step.
What leaves your machine
The app says so before it opens a file
Binary .mpp files are converted on Onplana's servers. The uploaded copy is deleted within 24 hours. Project XML files never leave your machine.
You see that sentence once, before the first conversion, and can ask the app to stop showing it. A health check on an XML file is opt-in, because it is the one step that uploads a copy, and the button says so.

Before you install
Is it free?
Yes. Onplana Schedule is free to download and free to use. Publishing a copy to Onplana creates a free workspace (2 projects, 5 members), and you upgrade only if you outgrow it.
Do I need Microsoft Project installed?
No. The app reads the files itself. A binary .mpp is converted on Onplana’s servers; a Project XML file never leaves your machine.
Does my file leave my computer?
Project XML files are read on your machine. Binary .mpp, .mpx and .xer files are converted on Onplana’s servers, and the uploaded copy is deleted within 24 hours. The app says which before it opens a file, once, and you can ask it to stop reminding you.
Can I edit the schedule?
Not in this version. Onplana Schedule is a viewer: open, read, check, share. Editing and saving back to Microsoft Project XML is the next step on its roadmap.
Which files does it open?
Microsoft Project .mpp and Project XML, the .mpx exchange format, and Primavera P6 .xer exports. Excel and CSV plans open too, through the Open dialog rather than a double-click.
Which computers does it run on?
Windows 10 (version 1809) or later, 64-bit, from the Microsoft Store, and macOS 13 or later as a download. Both listings are on their way; the download page shows each the day it is live.
What happens when I publish?
A copy of the schedule data is imported into a new Onplana project with its tasks, links and milestones intact. Your team opens it in a browser. The original file stays where it is, unchanged.
