Questions

Project management on a Mac

Does Onplana run on a Mac?

Yes, three ways. The full app runs in Safari or Chrome on any Mac. Onplana Tasks is a free Mac menu-bar app for the work assigned to you, and Onplana Schedule is a free Mac app that opens, edits and saves Microsoft Project files. Both apps are on the Mac App Store and as a notarized download.

Which Macs do the apps run on?

macOS 13 or later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. The download updates itself; a Mac App Store copy is updated by the App Store.

Is it free?

Onplana Tasks and Onplana Schedule are free. The team app is free for up to 5 members and 2 projects, with the Gantt chart, critical path and baselines on every plan, including Free; paid plans start at $12 per seat per month.

Can I open a Microsoft Project file on a Mac?

Yes, in Onplana Schedule. Double-click the .mpp in Finder and it opens as a Gantt chart with the critical path and float. Edits save as Project XML, which Microsoft Project opens, and the original .mpp is never overwritten.

Do I need an account for the Mac apps?

No. Onplana Schedule needs no account until you publish a copy to share, and Onplana Tasks offers Use without an account on its first screen, keeping your tasks on the Mac until you sign in.
