Capital programme management for the owner, with the seven answers your evaluation will ask for
Onplana runs a department's capital and maintenance projects as one portfolio: schedules with baselines and all fourteen DCMA checks, cost lines and earned value on every project, Entra ID sign-in and SCIM on Enterprise, and Enterprise+, a dedicated deployment Onplana sets up and runs in your own Azure subscription when the data has to stay in yours.
Written for the owner, not the contractor
Infrastructure departments
Schools, clinics, roads and public buildings: a capital and maintenance list of around a hundred projects, reported to a treasury every month.
Water and utility districts
Treatment works, pipelines and pump stations delivered by contractors, where the owner keeps the master schedule and pays against it.
Transport agencies
Corridors and stations built in phases over years, against a baseline the board approved and a variance somebody has to explain.
The owner side of construction
You do not pour the concrete. You receive the contractors' schedules, check them against a standard and decide whether the finish date is real.
The seven questions an owner's evaluation asks
Each answer says what works today, what is still in the build and when it was built, and the plan it needs. The plans are read from our price list, not typed here.
Works today
Can it forecast cashflow?
Each project carries a budget, dated cost lines marked expected, committed or spent, approved expense claims and approved timesheet hours. Earned value turns them into an estimate at completion and a weekly S-curve, which is the cashflow forecast for each project today.
Earned value on every plan, including Free. Timesheets and unlimited cost lines on the Professional plan and up.
In the build, November 2026
Can we see portfolio actuals against the baseline cashflow?
A portfolio Cashflow view, baseline against forecast against actual by month for every project in the portfolio, with a table per project and a CSV export, is built and not yet switched on for customers. Until it is, the same monthly curve is built in Power BI over the OData feed, which carries projects, tasks with their cost and task baselines with their baseline cost.
Portfolios on the Business plan and up. The OData feed on the Professional plan and up.
Works today
Does it support forensic schedule analysis?
Every baseline is kept with its variance per task, all fourteen DCMA checks score the schedule, every task keeps a change history, and Monte Carlo runs give a P50 and P80 finish. Import .mpp, Project XML and Primavera .xer, and export Project XML, Excel and CSV for the forensic tool you already use.
Baselines and the DCMA checks on every plan, including Free. Monte Carlo on the Professional plan and up. The exportable audit log on the Enterprise plan and up.
Works today
Is there a desktop scheduling tool?
Onplana Schedule is a desktop app for Windows and Mac. It opens Microsoft Project .mpp and Primavera .xer files without either product, saves Project XML, and runs the same DCMA health check on the planner's own machine.
The app costs nothing to download. Set baseline, earned value and the other locked commands on the Professional plan and up, and Save as Primavera .xer on the Professional plan and up.
Works today
Does it handle leads and lags?
Yes. All four link types, finish-to-start, start-to-start, finish-to-finish and start-to-finish, take a positive lag, or a negative lag for a lead, in days or hours, alongside constraints and float on every task.
Every plan, including Free.
Works today
Does it support Critical Chain?
Not as a method. The critical path is calculated on durations, resource levelling is a separate action, and a project or feeding buffer is modelled as a task you add. If Critical Chain is a requirement, say so at the start rather than in week three.
No plan adds it.
Works today
How does it fit Microsoft 365, Teams and Power BI?
Sign-in through Microsoft Entra ID with SAML or OIDC, users provisioned by SCIM, the Onplana app in Microsoft Teams with silent sign-in, SharePoint and OneDrive files linked to tasks, and a read-only OData feed that Power BI and Excel open, with a downloadable Power BI template.
Single sign-on and SCIM on the Enterprise plan and up. The Teams app on every plan, including Free. File links on the Professional plan and up, and the OData feed on the Professional plan and up.
"Our data stays in our subscription"
Enterprise+ is a dedicated deployment that Onplana sets up and runs in your own Azure subscription. The data, the backups and the encryption keys stay in your environment, in the Azure region your subscription uses, and it includes everything in Enterprise.
- A private copy of Onplana, deployed and run by us, inside your tenancy
- The encryption keys in your own Azure Key Vault
- Single sign-on, two-factor sign-in, IP allowlisting and an exportable audit log
- A security and hosting conversation with your IT department before anything is signed
A dedicated deployment from USD 30,000 a year, 100 seats included, deployed and run by Onplana in your Azure subscription. If your data can live in Onplana's own Azure service, Enterprise is USD 29 a seat a month.
What it does not do yet
- The portfolio Cashflow view is in the build, not live. It was built in November 2026 and is switched on for customers after its release. Until then the monthly curve comes from Power BI over the OData feed; ask to see the view on your own schedules before you rely on it.
- Critical Chain is not a method here. Buffers are tasks you add, and the critical path is the one calculated on durations.
- The web workspace does not write Primavera .xer. It writes Project XML, Excel and CSV. Onplana Schedule saves a .xer on the Professional plan and up, without the OBS, baselines and expenses.
What owners ask us
Can the hosted service keep our data in our country?
The hosted service runs in one Azure region, with no per-region switch. When the data has to stay in your own environment, Enterprise+ runs in your Azure subscription, in the region it uses.
How would a department buy it?
Enterprise is bought per seat, monthly or annually, by card or through the Microsoft Marketplace on the Microsoft agreement you already hold. Enterprise+ is contracted directly with Onplana, and the quote follows the seat count and region you name in the contact form.
Can we test it on our own schedules first?
Yes. Send two or three of your schedules as .mpp, Project XML or .xer and we import them into an evaluation workspace, so the baselines, the DCMA checks and the earned value are read on your data rather than on a demo.
Do our contractors need a licence to read the schedule?
No. Onplana Schedule and the browser viewers open .mpp and .xer files without an account. Contractors who work in the workspace join as guests, and Enterprise includes guest seats.
