Convert MPP to PDF, free
Open your Microsoft Project .mpp below. On the Gantt chart choose File, then Chart as PDF or picture, and export PDF pages or one picture. The PDF is made in your browser.
A Microsoft Project XML file opens in your browser, and is uploaded only if you run a health check or publish a copy. Any other file is converted on Onplana's servers. The viewer asks before each upload, and the uploaded copy is deleted within 3 days, and removed from backups 7 days after that.

How do you convert an MPP file to PDF?
- Choose Open a file in the viewer above, or drop your .mpp onto it.
- On the Gantt chart, choose File, then Chart as PDF or picture.
- Under Format, keep PDF pages, or pick Picture (PNG) for one image.
- Set the paper, the orientation and the dates, then press Export PDF.
For a one-page summary of the plan instead of the chart, choose Reports, Project overview, then Save as PDF. On a phone, the viewer opens in its phone layout: choose More, then Chart as PDF or picture.
What the PDF does not do
- It is a picture of the plan, not the plan: nobody can edit it, and it does not change when the schedule does.
- It does not open in Microsoft Project. Keep the .mpp, or save it as Project XML in Onplana Schedule, to go on planning.
- It changes nothing in the file. The viewer in the browser is read-only.
For a spreadsheet of the tasks, convert the MPP to Excel. To read the whole plan, with the critical path and a free health check, open it in the online MPP viewer. Every other route is compared in the MPP to Excel or PDF guide.

Frequently asked questions
How do I convert an MPP file to PDF?
Open the .mpp in the viewer on this page. On the Gantt chart, choose File, then Chart as PDF or picture, pick PDF pages and press Export PDF. For a summary of the plan instead, choose Reports, Project overview, then Save as PDF. No account and no Microsoft Project needed.
Is the PDF made on a server?
No, the PDF is made in your browser. Opening the file is the only step that can upload: a Project XML file opens in your browser, and any other file is converted on Onplana's servers after the viewer asks, and the uploaded copy is deleted within 3 days, and removed from backups 7 days after that.
Can I choose what the PDF shows?
Yes. The export dialog sets the paper, the orientation, the dates the timeline covers, how many pages wide it runs, and whether the pages carry the chart and the table or the table only. Picture (PNG) puts the chart in one image instead of pages.
Can I convert an MPP to PDF on my phone?
Yes. On a phone the viewer opens in its phone layout: open the file, choose More, then Chart as PDF or picture, and press Export PDF.
Does it convert a Primavera P6 .xer to PDF?
Yes, the same way. The viewer opens Microsoft Project .mpp and Project XML files and Primavera P6 .xer files.
Can I get the task list as a spreadsheet instead?
Yes. File, Task table as CSV saves the table here, and the MPP to Excel page makes an .xlsx with Start and Finish as date cells.
Update the plan, then print it again
Onplana Schedule, the free Windows and Mac app, opens the same .mpp, lets you change tasks, dates and progress, saves it as Project XML, and prints the updated chart from the same menu.
